Pasar Minggu Police Station Allegedly Ignores Report of Missing Person; Police: Not a Drop-off Point
JAKARTA — Allegations that members of the Pasar Minggu Sector Police (Polsek) failed to follow up on the discovery of an elderly woman reported missing have sparked widespread discussion on social media.
The information surfaced after a netizen uploaded a chronology of finding the elderly woman named Warisem, who was said to have been temporarily left at the police station but subsequently went missing again.
Initially, a netizen named Tiara shared information about the discovery of the missing person via the social media platform Threads.
Tiara also uploaded a video of her friend conversing with the woman. Warisem appeared confused when asked about her home and destination. Tiara’s friend then took the woman to the Pasar Minggu Polsek.
“It has already been reported and handed over to the Polsek (Pasar Minggu) by my friend,” said Tiara in her post, quoted on Monday (13/4/2026).
Tiara stated that her friend received no meaningful response from the officers on site. According to her, her friend was merely asked to leave Warisem at the police station without any recording process.
“It’s true she was left there; the police were extremely indifferent, really just focused on their computers. My friend wasn’t asked to record anything or hand over ID. They just said, ‘Just leave the mother there; she’s used to going missing,’” Tiara revealed.
Through that post, Warisem was eventually found by her son, Atar, in the Kalibata area. Atar said his family had visited the Pasar Minggu Polsek but did not find his mother there.
His sibling then tried searching at a social home in Kedoya, West Jakarta. However, that search also yielded no results. Warisem was instead found by chance while Atar’s sibling was on the way home.
Atar mentioned that his mother had been missing for two days before being found. He suspected she had left the house at night.
“It hurts; for two days and two nights, my mother didn’t come home. I kept worrying where she slept,” he said.
The Pasar Minggu Polsek Chief, Commissioner Anggiat Sinambela, denied that Warisem had been left at his office. He stressed that the police station is not a place for temporary care of people.
At that time, said Anggiat, Warisem was known to be wearing a location tracking bracelet and then left the area.
“She wasn’t left there; there’s no such thing. The Polsek is not a drop-off point. The point is, she’s already back with the family. The family also doesn’t want to be questioned because they’ve already reunited,” Anggiat explained when contacted separately.
