JAKARTA — The bypass road project connecting Jalan Rawajati Timur with Poltangan in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, has yet to be completed. From the relatively wide Jalan Kemuning, access to Poltangan remains a narrow alley that can only accommodate one motorbike or pedestrians. Along RW 007 in East Pejaten, residents’ homes still stand, though some are empty, demolished, or abandoned. However, the promised road access has not yet materialised. To realise this project, hundreds of residents’ homes must be demolished, and their occupants relocated. “Actually, the residents were excited. They thought the compensation would be substantial, expecting two-digit figures, but it turned out to be only single digits per square metre,” explained Amira, met at the site on Thursday (23/4/2026). Despite this, the residents eventually accepted. However, a new issue arose in the compensation disbursement process. Several residents face obstacles with administrative completeness, particularly because home ownership has changed hands. This situation is exacerbated by the RT head having moved away from the affected area, complicating document processing. One affected resident, Ina (not her real name), admitted to feeling anxious due to the verification of documents that has yet to be completed. Meanwhile, other residents have received compensation since the end of 2025 and left the location.
