Pasar Jaya refuses to see traders
The management of PD Pasar Jaya, the city-owned market authority, has refused to meet traders from the Ampera market in Kampung Ambon, East Jakarta.
Security officers informed the traders of the rebuff on Tuesday when they went to the PD Pasar Jaya office.
The traders, who were accompanied by lawyers from the Legal Aid Foundation (LBH), went to see the Pasar Jaya management to protest the sealing of their kiosks and irregularities in the development of the market.
The traders are complaining that PD Pasar Jaya has sealed their trading spaces since Aug. 31, saying that they failed to pay the renovation fee.
The renovation, conducted by PD Pasar Jaya, is expected to cost Rp 2 million per square meter.
The traders said that they refused to pay the fee because the renovation has reduced the size of their kiosks. (bsr)
