Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Joko Suparyoto, prioritises the importance of strict and ongoing supervision in maintaining market cleanliness, following the launch of a waste truck fleet at the Kramat Jati Main Market.

“We will conduct supervision periodically through visits to the markets. Every finding in the field must be immediately followed up by the market head so that it does not develop into a bigger problem,” said Joko during the launch of the waste truck fleet at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, on Friday.

According to him, waste issues cannot be handled merely through the provision of facilities, but also require routine control and collective commitment from all parties.

Therefore, the Supervisory Board, together with the board of directors, is committed to increasing the intensity of direct monitoring in the field.

In addition, Joko mentioned that such monitoring is important to prevent the re-emergence of waste accumulation that had previously occurred.

Active supervision, he said, aims to maintain the market’s image so that it does not revert to being associated with squalid conditions.

Therefore, the launch of the waste truck fleet today is part of the initial strategy in overhauling the cleanliness management system.

In the long term, Perumda Pasar Jaya plans to collaborate with the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) and Institut Teknologi Bandung to strengthen a more integrated and sustainable waste management system.

Joko assessed that the combination of adequate facilities and disciplined supervision can create a clean, healthy, and comfortable market environment for traders and visitors.

“We do not want the stigma of markets being dirty to persist. With consistent supervision, we ensure that cleanliness standards are maintained,” said Joko.

These efforts are also in line with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s programme to improve public service quality.

Through strengthened supervision, Perumda Pasar Jaya hopes to ensure that market cleanliness is maintained sustainably and provides tangible benefits for the community.

As is known, on Friday, Perumda Pasar Jaya officially launched five units of waste transport trucks at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, as an effort to improve cleanliness management at one of Indonesia’s largest food distribution centres.

“Perumda Pasar Jaya has introduced five units of waste transport trucks, each with a capacity of 16 cubic metres, as a concrete step in waste management,” said the President Director of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, during the launch of the waste truck fleet at the Kramat Jati Main Market, East Jakarta, on Friday.
