JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Joko Suparyoto, has assured that his organisation will collaborate with various parties to address waste problems in the Kramat Jati Main Market area, East Jakarta.

“For the long term, we are working with various parties to tackle waste issues, one of which is through collaboration with ITB’s NPAP,” said Joko Suparyoto at the Kramat Jati Main Market on Friday (1/5/2026).

For short-term measures, waste management is being handled by adding five transport trucks, each with a capacity of 16 cubic metres.

Joko also emphasised the importance of supervision in waste management to maintain market cleanliness.

“We must eliminate the old stigma that markets are dirty places because of rubbish piles. This is a collective responsibility, not just that of the market managers,” he said.

Previously, Perumda Pasar Jaya had provided five waste transport trucks to the Kramat Jati Main Market to anticipate build-ups and improve cleanliness.

“With a fleet of five units, each with a capacity of 16 cubic metres, it is hoped that the waste transportation process can run more quickly, orderly, and comprehensively,” said Agus.

He added that waste collection will be carried out on a scheduled basis to prevent accumulation in the market area.

“Any waste that might pile up too long in the corners of this market can be transported immediately on schedule, and this will certainly have a positive impact on traders,” he explained.

Perumda Pasar Jaya recorded that the waste volume at that time reached 6,970 tonnes, equivalent to around 410 tronton trucks.

“Around 6,970 tonnes or equivalent to approximately 410 tronton trucks. This condition was triggered by technical constraints in providing transport fleet since 9 March 2026,” said the Public Relations Manager of Perumda Pasar Jaya, Topik Hidayatulloh.

Topik added that his side has coordinated with the Jakarta Environmental Agency regarding the acceleration of waste transportation and targets significant progress in the near future.
