Party supporter falls to his death
SEMARANG: An Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) teenage supporter died after he fell from a truck during a motorcade here on Thursday.
Witnesses said Slamet Riyanto, 18, slipped off the back of the truck after falling asleep. The convoy was passing Salaman subdistrict when the accident occurred.
Deputy chairman of PDI Perjuangan here, Tri Rahardjo, suspected that Slamet was exhausted, as he came all the way from Jakarta to join the party campaign rally.
Quoting data from the Police Crisis Center here, Antara also said two supporters of the party had been arrested for robbing Budi Pratiknyo, 38, on Jl. Hanoman Krapyak.
Police quoted Budi as saying his car was stopped by eight men wearing red party T-shirts. He said the mob also beat him and stole his mobile phone.
Provincial police chief Maj. Gen. Nurfaizi, however, said security and order in the province was largely under control.
