Party Leaders Attend DPR Plenary Session with Prabowo

A total of 451 of the 580 members representing all eight factions attended the 19th DPR RI plenary session, which for the first time was attended by President Prabowo Subianto, on Wednesday, 20 May. The number was higher than the plenary sessions typically attended by no more than 400 lawmakers. In addition to cabinet ministers, the meeting was also attended by party leaders in the DPR. ‘According to notes from the Secretariat General of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the attendance list at today’s opening plenary session has been signed by 451 members from all factions in the DPR. Thus a quorum has been achieved,’ said Speaker of the DPR Puan Maharani, who chaired the meeting. Most of the attending party leaders are ministers in the Prabowo’s Red and White Cabinet. They include the Chairman of the Democratic Party and concurrently Infrastructure Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the Chairman of PAN and concurrently Agriculture Minister Zulkifli Hasan, and the Chairman of Golkar and concurrently Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia. Only the Chairman of PKB and concurrently Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar was absent as he is currently performing the hajj. Outside the cabinet, there was the Chairman of PKS and a DPR member Muzammil Yusuf, and the Chairman of NasDem Surya Paloh. Meanwhile, the Chairman of PDIP Megawati Soekarnoputri was represented by her daughter, who is also the Speaker of the DPR, Puan Maharani. Puan also acknowledged that this plenary session was special because it was attended by the President, who would outline the Macro Economic Framework (KEM) and the Core Principles of Fiscal Policy (PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN. ‘The Macro-Economic Framework and Fiscal Policy Pillars for the 2027 Budget year constitute the initial draft as the basis for drawing up the 2027 State Budget, which has macroeconomic policy direction and the direction of the state revenue and expenditure budget,’ she said.
