Jakarta, VIVA – The parent holding of state-owned surveying services enterprises, IDSurvey, through PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) or BKI, has published the results of its research in collaboration with SKK Migas and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). The innovation pertains to the Single Point Mooring (SPM) system for operational energy facilities.

The research is titled “Evaluating The Dynamic Behaviours of Offloading Arrangement Variations on Existing Single Point Mooring Structure to Improve the Safety Assurance of Classification Society”.

The publication was presented directly by BKI delegate, Hafizh Muhammad Naufal Shidqi, at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Asia 2026 held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia, from 31 March to 2 April 2026.

“This research aims to enhance asset safety and mitigate environmental risks, including the potential for oil spills due to system failures during loading and unloading,” stated BKI management in its release on Saturday, 18 April 2026.

At the international energy forum attended by more than 25,000 professionals from 89 countries, BKI explained that the research addresses inputs for developing rules on Single Point Mooring (SPM) systems, particularly for existing facilities.

The study was conducted from the perspective of oil and gas loading and unloading processes, with the goal of improving asset safety and mitigating environmental risks, including the potential for oil spills resulting from SPM system failures during loading and offloading.

In addition to the research presentation, BKI utilised the forum to expand its network and engage in discussions with international energy companies, including Yinson Holdings Berhad, Eni S.p.A., and Petronas.

“BKI’s presence at OTC Asia 2026 reaffirms the company’s commitment to actively promoting safety standards and sustainability in the oil and gas sector, both nationally and globally,” said BKI management.

The BKI delegation was led by Senior Manager of Offshore Marketing at the Main Branch Classification Tanjung Priok, Eko Maja Priyanto, and supported by SKK Migas Coordinator for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Willy Yuniar, as well as Professor at the Faculty of Marine Technology at ITS, Prof. Ir. Eko Budi Djatmiko.
