Partnering with Sari Roti, Social Affairs Ministry Empowers 417 Beneficiary Families as Mobile Bread Sellers
The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), in collaboration with PT Sari Roti, has launched an empowerment programme for hundreds of social assistance recipients in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) and Central Java. As an initial phase, 417 beneficiary families (KPM) of the Family Hope Programme (PKH) are being empowered as mobile bread sellers.
Wakil Menteri Sosial (Wamensos) Agus Jabo Priyono symbolically launched the programme by dispatching 100 PKH beneficiaries on bicycles to sell bread at Grha Bung Karno in Klaten, Central Java, on Tuesday. “With the highest prayers, may our efforts in selling Sari Roti be blessed with abundant fortune by God Almighty. Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. I hereby release the good intentions of the Klaten community to empower their lives,” he said.
Agus Jabo emphasised that this assistance programme marks the beginning of crossing a golden bridge towards a more prosperous and independent life. The goal, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, is for the community to live happier lives and escape the poverty trap.
Regional Manager of PT Sari Roti, Andi Bramantya Saputra, explained that the launch is the first phase of a collaboration focused on empowering PKH beneficiaries. The technical implementation involves working with PKH facilitators to identify priority beneficiaries. The 417 KPMs receiving aid in this initial phase are spread across DIY and Central Java. Beneficiaries will receive asset loans and facilities to support the mobile bread-selling process, including bicycles for those without motor vehicles and special boxes for those who own motorcycles. The company will also provide mentoring and training before the beneficiaries begin selling in the field, with the assets being on permanent loan and replaced if damaged.
Andi added that there will be a filtering process based on individual capabilities. Beyond working as mobile bread sellers, beneficiaries with adequate educational backgrounds may be recruited as executive salespeople at distributors, while others may be trained in small and medium enterprises (UMKM) producing processed Sari Roti products. For the first three months, a profit-sharing commission system will be implemented, after which a salary scheme will be introduced, with the details currently under discussion between the Ministry and PT Sari Roti.
