Partnering with Polri, Komdigi Accelerates Handling of Digital Crimes
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) has officially partnered with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to strengthen supervision and law enforcement in the digital realm.
This collaboration is marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at curbing various forms of cybercrime.
Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that this partnership is a crucial step in responding to the increasing digital crimes, including online fraud, sexual extortion (sextortion), and online gambling (judol).
“Alhamdulillah, today the MoU has been signed successfully. This will strengthen our efforts at Komdigi, supported by Polri, particularly for crimes in the digital realm that have become a major public concern,” said Meutya at the Komdigi Building on Monday (13/4/2026).
Additionally, public complaints regarding sextortion continue to rise, while online gambling remains a persistent issue despite traffic being reduced by up to 50 percent.
“With this MoU, we hope that in the next year, such crimes can be further suppressed. Public protection will also be strengthened through Komdigi and Polri call centres,” she added.
In its implementation, Komdigi and Polri will refine coordination processes to make them more integrated, eliminating lengthy bureaucratic procedures such as inter-agency correspondence.
Furthermore, both parties are discussing enhancements to public complaint services.
Currently separate call centres, such as 110 and 112, are planned to be integrated for easier public access.
“The principle is that the command centre must be more efficient. The public does not need to memorise multiple numbers, and reports can be handled more quickly,” said Meutya.
Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that this cooperation will bolster law enforcement efforts in the increasingly complex cyber world.
“Today, we are signing the memorandum of understanding to optimise the handling of digital space crimes such as online fraud, online gambling, scams, and other cybercrimes, so they can be addressed more quickly and effectively,” said Sigit.
According to Sigit, both institutions have agreed to form a joint team to accelerate responses to cyber cases and minimise the number of victims.
“Going forward, we will also strengthen public education and establish a joint task force to make case handling more optimal,” he added.
