Partnering with Five Universities in Greater Jakarta, Langkah Membumi Delivers Message for a Better Life
As part of the series leading up to the Langkah Membumi Market 2026, the ‘Langkah Membumi Goes to Campus’ initiative has brought the message ‘Better Living Starts With Us’ to five universities in the Greater Jakarta area, namely Atma Jaya University Semanggi, BINUS Bekasi, BINUS Alam Sutera, Universitas Pertamina Simprug, and Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) Gading Serpong.
Through interactive talk shows, a Waste Sorting Competition, and the Impact Creator Challenge, students were encouraged not only to understand sustainability issues but also to engage in real actions that can begin in daily life. This step is considered aligned with the 2025 Youth Sustainability Index (YSI) data from YouthLab Indonesia & WWF-Indonesia, which concluded that a gap still exists between young people’s concern for environmental issues and its practical application, such as in waste sorting practices and consumption patterns.
These findings highlight the importance of presenting sustainability in a simpler, more relevant, and more accessible form for the younger generation, not just through education, but also by providing space for them to be directly involved.
Sustainability talks to real action
Sustainability issues are considered complex, yet change can always begin with daily choices. Through Langkah Membumi Goes to Campus, students were invited to see how eating, dressing, and travelling can become part of a more responsible lifestyle.
Through interactive talk show sessions, participants could not only learn about sustainability but were also encouraged to participate actively in the inter-campus Waste Sorting Challenge and the Impact Creator Challenge, which is open to the public.
After understanding sustainability issues through discussion, students were invited to translate that knowledge into action through a Waste Sorting Competition in collaboration with Waste4Change. At each campus, the Langkah Membumi University Champions acted as drivers, encouraging students to participate and guiding them in recognising and sorting waste into organic, inorganic, and residual categories.
Presented in an interactive group game format, this competition invited students to learn while practising proper waste sorting. The experience demonstrated that simple habits, such as sorting waste, can be the first step towards more responsible waste management.
From discussing and asking questions to trying waste sorting themselves, students were no longer merely an audience but took an active role in waste management solutions. This is the spirit that Langkah Membumi aims to build: because small actions performed together, consistently and repeatedly, can grow into a larger impact.
The Impact Creator Challenge
The ‘Goes to Campus’ journey continued through the Impact Creator Challenge, which invites students not only to understand issues but also to think of solutions and take action within their own environments. Through this challenge, students are encouraged to observe problems around them, pour out creative ideas, and develop actions that can provide a positive impact.
While the Waste Sorting Competition encouraged students to move together within the campus environment, the Impact Creator Challenge provides space for them to create actions in their own way. In doing so, the message ‘Better Living Starts With Us’ does not stop at the campus or on the day of the event, but can be continued through ideas and actions originating directly from the youth.
Towards the ‘Langkah Membumi Market 2026’
After bringing the ‘Better Living’ spirit to five universities in Greater Jakarta, the Langkah Membumi 2026 journey will continue towards its peak at the Langkah Membumi Market 2026, which will take place from 8–11 October 2026 at Grand Indonesia, Jakarta.
At the event, initiated by Blibli Ticket Action, the ‘Better Living Starts With Us’ spirit will be continued through various experiences that invite the public to understand, perform, and create impact through a Curated Market, Inspiring Talks, Eco Workshops, and various activities alongside over 70 tenants and communities.
