Partnering with DMI and BPMI, Aqua Sends 27 Mosque Caretakers for Umrah Pilgrimage
Jakarta, VIVA – As a form of appreciation for the dedication of mosque caretakers (marbot) and administrators (khadimul), Aqua, alongside the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) and the Istiqlal Mosque Management Body (BPMI), has once again sent 27 mosque caretakers and administrators to perform the Umrah pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
The Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, represented by the Head of the Worship Organising Division of the Istiqlal Mosque Management Body, K.H. Bukhori Sail Al-Tahiri, stated that entering its third year of implementation, this programme has sent up to 70 mosque caretakers and administrators from various regions across Indonesia.
His office welcomed the initiative and hopes that this programme can honour the drivers of mosques in Indonesia, while simultaneously strengthening the role of the mosque as a centre for community development and service.
“We appreciate the cooperation of all parties involved in this programme, both from the private sector and religious organisations, who share the same spirit to prosper the mosques and honour their organisers,” said Buklar in a statement on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
Similarly, the General Secretary Director of Danone Indonesia, Agung Laksamana, expressed that for his company, this partnership serves as a space to continue providing soothing values to the community through support that can be felt directly by the people.
“We believe that community empowerment requires sincere and sustainable collaboration, so Aqua is committed to continuing its journey alongside various partners,” said Agung.
“This includes religious organisations, mosque institutions, and communities, in presenting initiatives that strengthen the social role of mosques and provide broader benefits to the Indonesian people,” he added.
One of the Umrah pilgrims from Bogor, Abdul Muaz, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent a mosque in the West Java region.
“Alhamdulillah, we are very grateful to be given the opportunity to go on Umrah to the House of Allah. This journey is a very meaningful experience for us, especially because all needs have been prepared so well, from telecommunications to daily necessities. With all this support, we can depart with peace of mind and focus more on worship in the Holy Land,” he said.
With more than 710,000 mosques and prayer rooms registered throughout Indonesia according to the Mosque Information System (SIMAS) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, mosques play a role that extends far beyond their function as places of worship.
