Partai Ummat Congratulates Gus Kikin on Election as PBNU Chairman

Acting Chairman of the Partai Ummat Central Executive Board, Ustaz Ansufri Idrus Sambo, and Chairman of the Partai Ummat Syura Council, Prof M Amien Rais, have extended their congratulations to the new leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU). KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, has been officially elected as Chairman of PBNU for the 2026-2031 term.

According to Ustaz Sambo, Gus Kikin’s election is remarkable because it was conducted through the Ahlul Halli Wal Aqdi (AHWA) mechanism. Moreover, the great-grandson of Nahdlatul Ulama founder Hadratussyaikh KH M Hasyim Asy’ari secured 472 votes, the highest among congress participants compared to other candidates in Plenary Session V of the 35th NU Congress.

“Therefore, I and the Chairman of the Partai Ummat Syura Council, M Amien Rais, together with all Partai Ummat officials throughout Indonesia, congratulate KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, known as Gus Kikin, on his election as Chairman of PBNU for the 2026-2031 period,” said Ustaz Sambo in Jakarta on Monday (31/8/2026).

He also prayed for Gus Kikin’s success in leading PBNU over the next five years. “May he always receive the blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, aamiin yaa mujibassa’iliin,” said Ustaz Sambo.

He expressed one hope for Gus Kikin: that NU becomes an organisation that fosters unity and brotherhood in Indonesia, particularly among Muslims. “Including that NU in the future becomes a more harmonious, united organisation, with the primary goal of serving the community, for the benefit of the ummah that we have,” said Ustaz Sambo.
