Part-Time PPPK Workers in Dompu Demonstrate, Demanding Full-Time Appointments

Hundreds of part-time Government Employees Under Work Agreements (PPPK), comprising healthcare workers (nakes) and technical staff in Dompu, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), are demanding that their status be equalised with teachers, who are set to be appointed as full-time PPPK employees in 2027.

The demand was voiced by the crowd during protests held at the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) office and the Dompu Regent’s Office on Monday (7/9/2026). In their speeches, the healthcare and technical workers said they felt treated as stepchildren by the government, which is only addressing the plight of teachers.

“Why are we treated as second-class citizens? Why are teachers being given special privileges?” said one of the protesters, Siti Sarah, in her speech.

Siti Sarah said the work pattern of healthcare workers involves heavy labour that must be carried out over 24 hours, as they attend to patients around the clock. Therefore, she continued, healthcare workers and teachers are both part-time PPPK employees and their fates should not be differentiated.

“We serve the public 24 hours a day, putting our lives on the line. Yet we are all part-time workers, so why should we be treated differently?” she said.

According to observations by detikBali, the protest by the healthcare and technical workers began with a gathering in front of the Dompu Grand Mosque. They then marched to the council office, where they took turns delivering speeches and voicing their aspirations.

During the action, they carried banners reading ‘Full-Time PPPK: Non-Negotiable’. They also unfurled a long banner reading ‘Healthcare Workers and Technical Staff Are Not Slaves of the State’.

After delivering speeches in front of the DPRD office, the protesters continued their action at the Dompu Regent’s Office. As of now, the protest by the healthcare and technical workers is still ongoing.
