Jakarta (ANTARA) – Dini Rahmania, a member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, has stated that the government, through the Ministry of Religion, must prepare for the 2026 Eid exodus period, which will coincide with the Hindu observance of Nyepi.

According to her, the government must ensure the protection and respect of religious practices for all faiths. Hindu adherents, she said, must be able to observe Nyepi peacefully, whilst Muslim communities can also conduct their homecoming travel and celebrate Eid al-Fitr comfortably.

“Cross-ministerial and inter-agency coordination must be conducted from the outset, particularly with the Ministry of Transport, the police, regional governments, and religious leaders,” Dini stated in remarks delivered in Jakarta on Thursday.

According to her, time arrangements must be made for the exodus during Nyepi observance to prevent congestion or confusion amongst those travelling. She also stated that the public must receive clear information about the timing of Nyepi, particularly in regions with predominantly Hindu populations such as Bali, so that travellers can plan their schedules in advance.

Furthermore, according to her, special technical arrangements are necessary in directly affected areas, for instance, transport arrangements, airport and port operations, and logistics routes to avoid disrupting Nyepi observance whilst maintaining public mobility.

With careful planning and good communication, she expressed confidence that the two major religious celebrations can proceed smoothly with mutual respect.

“I see this moment as an opportunity to demonstrate the nation’s tolerance and maturity in managing diversity,” she said.
