A member of Commission VII of the Indonesian Parliament, Rycko Menoza, has underscored that the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) sector, tourism, and the creative economy constitute strategic sectors that serve as pillars of regional economic development.

Menoza believes that strengthening these three sectors will have an immediate impact on improving community welfare, particularly in accelerating the flow of capital at the grassroots level.

“SMEs, tourism and the creative economy must become priorities for greater advancement. With the strengthening of these sectors, the wheels of economic circulation within society will turn more rapidly,” said Rycko Menoza in a statement in Bandar Lampung on Monday.

He explained that the SME sector possesses strong resilience against global economic shocks. When combined with the region’s tourism potential, managed professionally, this would create a sustainable creative economy ecosystem.

“If these strategic sectors move forward, new employment opportunities will be created independently in regions. We want the public not merely to be observers, but to become the primary actors in local economic growth,” he said.

He also encouraged synergy between central and regional policies to ensure that creative economy empowerment programmes are well targeted.

Rycko has committed, through his role in Commission VII of the Parliament, to continue overseeing policies that support the strengthening of people’s economy.

“Our vision is clear: to make regional economies more independent by optimising existing local potential. Strong SMEs, thriving tourism, then the people’s economy will surge,” he said.
