Parliamentary Journalists Report Deddy to DPR Ethics Council; PDIP Official Responds
Deddy Sitorus, a member of Commission II of the DPR and Chairman of the PDIP Central Executive Board, has responded to the report filed by the Parliamentary Journalists Coordinatorate (KWP) to the House Ethics Council (MKD) regarding his ‘like a circus’ remark during a meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Deddy stated that the report is not an issue and invited the KWP to proceed with the MKD process.
“Please go ahead, that is their right. Eventually, it will be revealed who is lying and slandering,” Deddy told reporters on Friday (31/07/2026). Deddy added that his side is also preparing legal steps regarding the report.
The KWP officially reported Deddy Sitorus to the MKD DPR following journalists’ coverage of his ‘like a circus’ statement during a meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Erwin Syahputra, Vice Chairman for Administration of the KWP, stated that the report concerns the code of ethics for House members and aims to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
“This morning, we officially filed a report to the MKD, under complaint number 78. We delivered the report letter today because we had previously requested a public apology from him, but he stated he would not apologise,” said Erwin after filing the report at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.
Erwin noted that they have included several pieces of evidence, such as video footage of the statements made during the Commission II meeting. “In addition to the report letter, we have also attached the video of his statement where he mentioned ‘circus’ during the Commission II meeting, as well as videos from various television reporters. We have submitted the report letter and both are contained on a flash drive,” Erwin added.
