Jakarta — The Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives from the Gerindra (Great Indonesia Movement) faction, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, announced that parliament will soon debate the proposed Single Data Law. The statement was made to journalists at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

“The Single Data Law will be discussed soon,” Dasco said.

According to Dasco, the law is considered important given the lessons learned from handling recent natural disasters. He highlighted instances where data held by different ministries conflicted, resulting in coordination failures when providing assistance to displaced persons in the field.

“For example, data from one ministry differs from another ministry, which then creates inconsistencies in the field when providing assistance to evacuees,” he said.

Beyond disaster management, Dasco also noted ongoing challenges with data consistency affecting the distribution of social welfare funds and health insurance (BPJS) benefits.

“We can see that inconsistencies still exist, so we will harmonise the data into a Single Data system. This way, going forward, there will be no more data confusion that creates problems in the field,” Dasco said.
