Parliamentary Complex Prepares for 2026 Annual Session

The parliamentary complex in Jakarta, comprising the MPR, DPR, and DPD buildings, appeared ready on Friday morning to host the MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD. A number of security officers were on standby to guard every access point to the parliamentary complex. Meanwhile, TNI and Polri personnel were also securing every corner of the people’s representative offices. Several members of the DPR, DPD, and ministers of the Red and White Cabinet had already arrived at the complex by 7:00 AM local time or earlier. The state event is scheduled to commence at 8:30 AM. Two presidential helicopters were also prepared on the field behind the Nusantara Building, also known as the ‘Turtle Building’. President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka are set to attend the session. Previously, the Secretariat General of the MPR confirmed that all preparations for the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, scheduled for Friday (14/8), had been carried out thoroughly, in a coordinated and optimal manner. Deputy for Administration of the MPR Secretariat General, Heri Herawan, stated that this year’s Annual Session prioritises synergy and close collaboration among state institutions. ‘For the 2026 MPR Annual Session and the Joint Session of the DPR and DPD, all units within the MPR Secretariat General have made thorough preparations,’ Heri said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday (13/8).
