Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) is urging the TNI and Polri to synergise in investigating the acid attack case against KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus.

“Commission III of DPR RI encourages Polri and the TNI to continue synergising in handling the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus,” said Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman during a special meeting on the case in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3).

The synergy is requested to be guided by Article 170 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP).

That article regulates connected trials. It states in paragraph (1) that criminal acts committed jointly by persons subject to the general court and the military court shall be tried by the court within the general judiciary.

“Guided by the provisions of Article 170 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the new KUHAP in handling this case,” he said.

Habib appreciated Polri and related parties for uncovering the alleged perpetrators. The same appreciation was expressed by representatives of political party factions present at the meeting.

“Commission III of DPR RI appreciates the performance of Polri and all related parties who have uncovered the incident and the identities of the perpetrators in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus,” he said.

In the meeting, Commission III of DPR RI also agreed to the formation of a working committee (panja) to monitor this case.

The commission will also hold a working meeting with Polri, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and the victim’s side as a commitment to enforcing human rights protection.

It is known that Andrie Yunus was attacked by unknown persons in Central Jakarta on Thursday night (12/3).

The incident occurred shortly after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office discussing the topic of militarism and the judicial review of the TNI Law.

In its developments, the Metro Jaya Police have uncovered two initial suspects in the acid attack against Andrie Yunus.

“We can inform that the two people we showed earlier, from Polri data, one with initials BHC, and one with initials MAK,” said Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Pol. Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) stated that it has detained four personnel suspected of involvement in the case.

Puspom TNI Commander Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto in Jakarta on Wednesday said the four personnel with initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES were detained at Puspom TNI for further investigation.

“We convey that all four suspected perpetrators are members of the BAIS TNI Headquarters Detachment (Denma BAIS). So, not from any unit, but from Denma BAIS TNI,” he stated.

He explained that in the context of geopolitics and national stability, clarity of information and firmness of the apparatus are key factors.

He explained simply that the attack using acid involved four perpetrators with a division of tasks.

The TNI ensures that the case handling is carried out professionally and transparently.

As many as 86 CCTV recordings have been collected and presented in the investigation process. All recordings are now being analysed to uncover the incident comprehensively.

A Civil Society Coalition demands the revelation of the intellectual actors in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus through the general court. Rejects impunity in the military court.

He reminded investigators not to rush to conclude the involved parties, whether from civilian circles or certain institutions.

The TNI ensures professional and transparent handling of the case.
