Jakarta – Commission III Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, has announced that his commission has scheduled a public hearing (RDPU) to discuss the alleged sexual harassment case involving an ustadz who is also known as a judge in TV tahfidz competitions.

Based on information received, the case is alleged to have occurred between 2017 and 2025.

The public hearing is planned to take place at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on 2 April 2026.

“We hope that this public hearing can accelerate the legal process against the perpetrator and bring justice to the victims as soon as possible,” said Habiburokhman.

In this agenda, Commission III of the DPR will invite several parties, including representatives of the victims along with their legal counsel, as well as the Director of Crimes Against Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking from the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri).

Habiburokhman also clarified that the alleged perpetrator is not the two ustadzs who have been mentioned in the issues circulating in society.

He emphasised that the individual in question is not Soleh Mahmud nor Syamsuddin Nur Makka.

“So, it is not those two, but rather someone who is usually called Syekh,” he said.

He added that this clarification is important to avoid public misunderstanding regarding parties not involved in the case.
