Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Bambang Haryadi, has revealed the existence of parties seeking to drive up the price of Fuel Oil (BBM). This is particularly evident amid the government’s commitment to keeping prices stable.

According to Bambang, an anomaly has emerged where the Indonesian government under President Prabowo Subianto has firmly decided against raising BBM prices, yet certain figures or parties are pushing for the opposite policy.

“There is the government, namely the Indonesian Government under President Prabowo, which insists on not raising (BBM prices). But there are some figures or parties who are instead pushing to raise BBM,” Bambang stated when met after a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, SKK Migas, and Pertamina Patra Niaga at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Bambang assessed that various pieces of information circulating in the public regarding BBM price increases are hoax news. For instance, the dissemination of snippets simulating BBM prices that appear to depict real conditions.

On the other hand, global oil prices are currently showing a downward trend. As of this morning, for example, oil prices have fallen by around 17% from the previous US$114 per barrel to about US$94 per barrel.

“So we urge those parties who want to create unrest or unease among the public to repent. Especially since it’s still Eid season, the Idulfitri atmosphere, let’s forgive each other. It’s a pity for the little people when they’re given issues that make everyone panic,” Bambang said.
