Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has urged the public not to hoard fuel oil in early April. This statement responds to the government’s policy that there are no plans to raise fuel oil prices from 1 April 2026.

Dasco received information about queues at fuel filling stations in several areas following rumours of price increases. “There are no plans to adjust the prices of subsidised or non-subsidised fuel oil. The public need not panic, need not queue, let alone hoard,” he said at the DPR complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

Dasco stated that the legislative body has communicated with the government regarding fuel oil amid the current global situation. According to him, President Prabowo Subianto will continue to monitor and ensure the public’s fuel needs without raising prices.

“If asked how long this will last, I do not know yet. Perhaps the government knows,” said this daily chairman of the Gerindra Party’s DPP.

In addition, Dasco stated there are no plans to implement policies restricting fuel oil purchases, either for Pertalite or Pertamax. He said the country’s oil reserves are still sufficient to meet public needs. “Our stocks are still adequate,” he remarked.

Previously, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi stated that the news circulating amid global oil price fluctuations due to the war in the Middle East is untrue. According to him, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and Pertamina have coordinated on the issue of fuel oil price increases.

“Pertamina will not make any price adjustments, either for subsidised or non-subsidised fuel oil,” said Prasetyo in his statement on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

According to Prasetyo, this step aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive. “The President always prioritises the interests of the people and society in making decisions,” said this Gerindra Party politician.

The government, he said, hopes that the statement regarding no fuel oil price increase can clarify the rumours circulating in society. “We hope the public does not need to panic or worry because we guarantee the availability of fuel oil and there will be no price adjustments,” he stated.
