The 16th DPR plenary session of the 2025-2026 parliamentary term has established three Bills (RUU) as legislative initiatives from the DPR to be discussed promptly with the government.

The three bills are: the Copyright Bill, the Hajj Financial Management Bill, and the Domestic Worker Protection Bill (PPRT).

The approval session was chaired by DPR Speaker Puan Maharani, accompanied by four deputy speakers including Sufmi Dasco Ahmad from Gerindra, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal from PKB, Sari Yuliati from Golkar, and Saan Mustopa from NasDem.

“May the bill proposal from the DPR Legislative Body concerning the Protection of Domestic Workers (PPRT) be approved as a DPR legislative initiative?” asked Puan as session chair, met with approval from all session participants.

The approval session for the three bills was preceded by written statements from each parliamentary faction submitted to the session leadership.

In detail, the three bills were proposed by different commissions: the PPRT bill by the Legislative Body (Baleg), the Hajj Financial Management Bill by DPR Commission VIII, and the Copyright Bill by DPR Commission XIII.

After being approved as legislative initiatives, the three bills will await presidential letters and problem inventory lists before being formally discussed with the government to become law.

DPR Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco stated that of the three bills, the PPRT bill and the Copyright Bill will be prioritised for swift passage this year.

“Yes, the first target is PPRT, then followed by the Copyright Law,” said Dasco.
