Parliament: Opening of international flights to support Belitung tourism
Tanjungpandan, Bangka Belitung (ANTARA) - House of Representatives member Rudianto Tjen believes that the opening of the international flight route from Tanjungpandan, Belitung, Bangka Belitung, to Singapore will support the tourism sector in Belitung.
“I see the tourism sector in Belitung growing day by day and capable of competing at the international level,” he said during a working visit to Tanjungpandan, Bangka Belitung, on Sunday.
He stated that the resurgence of tourism in Belitung will have a significant positive impact on the small and medium enterprise sector, hospitality, and other important sectors.
“The local economy in Belitung will grow rapidly because many foreign tourists will visit the Land of the Rainbow Troops,” he explained.
Rudianto opined that the opening of the Tanjungpandan-Singapore international flight serves as an important momentum to improve community welfare.
“I greatly appreciate the Belitung Regency Government for making positive breakthroughs in efforts to develop the region,” he said.
According to him, Indonesian tourists planning to travel abroad can go through Tanjungpandan using partner airlines of the local government.
“Indonesian tourists planning to go abroad can first stop in Tanjungpandan to enjoy the stunning natural beauty of Belitung’s tourism attractions,” he said.
He invited all Belitung residents to support the local government’s programmes for the sake of development and community welfare.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Belitung Regency Branch of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPC Hipmi) Zainudin said that the Tanjungpandan-Singapore flight connectivity is a strategic step to encourage the growth of the tourism sector.
“The opening of this international route provides significant double positive impacts on various economic sectors,” he stated.
According to him, the Tanjungpandan-Singapore international flight also serves as an entry point for foreign investors to directly review investment potential in Belitung.
