Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR RI) has officially enacted the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) into law. Several domestic worker (PRT) communities present in the balcony of the DPR plenary session room celebrated with applause as the bill officially became law.

The enactment of the RUU PPRT into law took place in the plenary session room at DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/4/2026). The RUU PPRT was officially approved as law around 11.30 WIB.

The balcony of the plenary session room was lively just before the enactment of the RUU PPRT into law. PRT communities enthusiastically welcomed the moment when the session chair questioned whether the RUU PPRT could be approved as law.

“It is time for us to request the approval of the factions regarding the Bill on the Protection of Domestic Workers. Can it be approved and enacted into law?” asked Puan.

“Agreed,” responded the House members, accompanied by applause and joyful cheers from the PRT present at the plenary session.

Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas also welcomed the commotion in the plenary session. He stated that the enactment of the RUU PPRT into law was also joyfully received by the factions in the balcony.

“Those we respect, the ‘balcony faction’, who today are happy with the enactment of this bill,” said Law Minister Supratman, greeted again with applause from the PRT communities in the balcony.
