Parliament Holds Plenary Session on Copyright Amendment Bill and Domestic Worker Protection Bill with 294 Members Present

The Indonesian parliament held its 16th plenary session of the fourth legislative period in the 2025-2026 term. A total of 294 parliament members were present at the session.

The plenary session was held at the Nusantara II building of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR)/Parliament (DPR)/Regional Representative Council (DPD) in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 12 March 2026. The session was chaired by Speaker Puan Maharani.

Present during the session were other parliamentary leaders, including Vice Speakers Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Sari Yuliati, and Saan Mustopa. Puan first read out the attendance of parliament members.

“According to records from the Secretariat General of the Indonesian Parliament, the attendance list for today’s plenary session has been signed by 294 members and is attended by all parliamentary factions,” Puan stated.

“Accordingly, a quorum has been achieved, and with the invocation of Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, we as the parliament leadership hereby open the 16th plenary session of the Indonesian Parliament for the fourth legislative period of the 2025-2026 term, on Thursday, 12 March 2026, and declare it open to the public,” she added.

The session’s agenda included a report from Commission XI on the results of the fit and proper test for the proposed Financial Services Authority (OJK) board member candidates, followed by a decision vote. The second agenda item concerned the Budget Review Team’s report on the 2027 parliamentary work plan and budget, followed by a decision vote.

The subsequent agenda comprised parliamentary faction statements on the proposed bill amending the 2014 Law on Hajj Finance Management, initiated by Commission VIII, followed by a decision vote to establish it as a parliamentary draft bill.

The next agenda item addressed parliamentary faction statements regarding the proposed bill amending the 2014 Copyright Law, initiated by parliament members, followed by a decision vote to establish it as a parliamentary draft bill under Law Number 28.

Following this was debate on parliamentary faction statements concerning the proposed Domestic Worker Protection (PPRT) Bill, initiated by the parliament’s Legislative Body, followed by a decision vote to establish it as a parliamentary draft bill. The final agenda item was the appointment of members to a special committee on the proposed Archipelagic Region Bill, followed by a decision vote.
