Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Chairman of House of Representatives Commission XI, M. Misbakhun, has requested that the government and Danantara report to the legislature on the Ministry of Finance’s plan to take over ownership of shares in PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (Persero) or KCIC, the operator of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train.

This was stated by Misbakhun when met at the Bank Mega Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). According to him, this major government plan needs to be clearly discussed with the DPR, including the share acquisition scheme.

“It must (be reported to the DPR). Because there will be a spin-off like what, share takeover, then recognition of the debt and so on that was previously in the BUMN position, then the debt is taken over. That certainly requires discussion with the DPR,” said Misbakhun.

Misbakhun emphasised that this share takeover is within the government’s authority. He also reminded that the KCIC rescue scheme should not burden all parties, including PT Kereta Api Indonesia.

“That is certainly the government preparing a scheme on how to save this project. Because this project has benefits for the community,” said Misbakhun.

Previously, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BP BUMN) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria stated that the Ministry of Finance will take over the red-and-white ownership shares in KCIC. This option has been discussed with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.

He also revealed that this option will be announced soon in the next two weeks. Meanwhile, the operations of the high-speed train will remain in the hands of KCIC and PT KAI.

“Operations remain with KAI, because Indonesian railways is indeed its field. But there’s something interesting that I need to convey repeatedly so that the public also understands that this railway will certainly become our flagship mass transportation going forward,” he explained.
