Deputy Chair of Parliament Commission VI Nurdin Halid has emphasised the critical importance of ensuring fuel availability at all petrol stations ahead of the Eid exodus. He considers energy supply readiness to be a crucial factor in supporting the smooth movement of the public, which is expected to increase significantly during the Eid holiday period. Halid conveyed this message during Commission VI’s work visit in Makassar together with several state-owned enterprise (BUMN) strategic partners.

During the meeting, various stakeholders discussed anticipatory measures to ensure the energy and transport sectors are ready for the surge in travel activities during the exodus season.

“The increase in vehicle mobility during the exodus is almost always accompanied by a spike in fuel consumption across various regions, particularly along major land travel routes,” Halid said in a press statement received on Monday 9 March.

For this reason, he requested that PT Pertamina strengthen fuel distribution and maintain stability of fuel supply at petrol stations, so that the public does not experience difficulties obtaining fuel during their journeys.

Beyond ensuring energy availability, Commission VI also addressed the readiness of the national transport sector under BUMN coordination. Various transport operators such as PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, and PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) are expected to enhance their service readiness, from fleet availability to service quality for passengers.

Halid emphasised that solid coordination between the government, state enterprises, and regional authorities is key to maintaining smooth national exodus operations. He assessed that infrastructure readiness in energy and transport is not merely an operational matter, but also part of the state’s responsibility in providing safe, comfortable, and reliable public services for those travelling to their home villages.
