Parking Tariffs May Rise by Rp60,000, Transport Agency Says Not Yet Final
The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta has emphasised that there has been no increase in parking tariffs for two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles in Jakarta.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, said the public need not worry about the figures that have been circulating. The proposed tariffs, which would rise to Rp60,000 per hour for four-wheeled vehicles and Rp15,000 for two-wheeled vehicles, were the result of studies conducted in 2019 and 2022 and are not yet final.
“We emphasise that there is currently no increase in parking tariffs. The figures circulating are still proposals under review and have not become a decision. The public need not worry because the tariffs currently in effect remain the same as before,” Budi told journalists on Wednesday (26/8).
He explained that setting tariffs is the authority of the Governor through a mechanism of deliberation with the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) in accordance with applicable regulations. If there is a plan to change tariffs, the process must go through review and discussion with stakeholders, including taking into account input from the Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ), before being determined by the Governor.
As such, the parking tariffs currently in effect remain the same as before, as stipulated in Governor Regulation Number 31 of 2017 concerning Parking Service Tariffs and Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 concerning Regional Taxes and Regional Levies.
Meanwhile, the parking tariffs still in effect are Rp2,000 per hour for motorcycles, Rp5,000 for cars, and Rp7,000 for buses or trucks.
For information, Media Indonesia received a document containing a comparison matrix between Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 and the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on the Amendment to Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024. One of its contents concerns public service levies. Parking service levies on public roadsides for sedans, jeeps, minibuses, pickups and similar vehicles would be charged Rp3,000 to Rp12,000 per hour, with parking of less than one hour counted as one hour.
Meanwhile, in the Draft Regional Regulation on the Amendment to Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024, the levy for cars would be Rp6,000 to Rp60,000 per hour, with parking of less than one hour counted as one hour.
