Parking study results emerge
JAKARTA (JP): City Inspector Djoko Brotosurjono said his
office had finished the first stage of its investigation into the
embezzlement of parking fees at the City Parking Authority, BP
Parkir.
Djoko said that he had handed over the results of the
investigation to Governor Surjadi Soedirdja.
"I have reported the results to the governor," he said, adding
that he had no authority to make the results known to the public.
The governor said previously that the city administration
would announce the results as soon as the investigation was over.
Surjadi made the earlier statement in response to a demand by
the city council that the municipal administration reveal the
extent of corruption in the parking authority which, it claims,
has caused the administration to lose billions of rupiah in
parking revenues. (yns)
