Parking Spots at Rasuna Said CFD Under Evaluation as Illegal Parking Persists

The South Jakarta Transportation Agency has started evaluating parking arrangements during the implementation of Car Free Day (CFD) in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area. This evaluation follows the discovery of numerous vehicles belonging to CFD visitors parked haphazardly around the activity zones, particularly in Zone 3, spanning from the KPK Red and White Building towards Kuningan Madya.

The Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Agency, Bernad Pasaribu, stated that parking supervision is being conducted in coordination with the Parking Management Unit (UP Parkir). “For supervision, we are coordinating with the Parking Management Unit. Moving forward, the Parking Management Unit will handle the guidance and monitoring,” said Bernad on Monday (18/05/2026).

One of the primary causes of the issue is the limited availability of parking pockets and a shortage of vehicle directing officers in the Rasuna Said CFD area. The Kuningan Madya and Epicentrum areas have been identified as the most affected zones due to the high volume of visitor vehicles during the event.

Despite these challenges, the implementation of CFD at Rasuna Said is generally considered safe and conducive, with high levels of public enthusiasm. The Jakarta Provincial Government has stated it will continue to implement improvements to ensure that the CFD is more organised and comfortable for the public.

These policies are being implemented as supporting facilities in the area are declared ready. The expansion of the CFD area to Jalan HR Rasuna Said is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government’s efforts to provide a public space that is more pedestrian-friendly and healthy for residents. In addition to encouraging the public to reduce motor vehicle use during weekends, the policy is also expected to help improve air quality in Jakarta. The redevelopment of the Rasuna Said area focuses not only on the implementation of CFD but also includes the improvement of pedestrian paths and urban greening. The Provincial Government aims for this central business district to have a new, more comfortable face for community activities, with the Rasuna Said CFD serving as a new space for sports and recreation amidst Jakarta’s dense office district.
