Parking Lots for Labour Day Commemoration at Monas; These Points Could Face Traffic Jams

The Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate has prepared several parking lots at various points in Jakarta to anticipate the arrival of thousands of buses and motorcycles from workers planning to commemorate May Day at Monas tomorrow. It is estimated that a total of 200,000 workers from various locations will enter Jakarta today. “We ask for understanding from the public around Kemayoran; later, the roads around Benyamin Sueb may be used for parking lots,” said the Director of Traffic for the Jakarta Metro Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Komarudin, quoted from Kompas.com on Thursday (30/4/2026). Workers from Central Java and East Java are directed to Wisma Aldiron, Pancoran, South Jakarta. If insufficient, the police have prepared additional locations in North Jakarta, including Ancol. All buses should drop off passengers first at designated drop-off points around the Monas area before heading to the provided parking lots. Komarudin reminded the public to replan their journeys to avoid getting stuck in traffic at the aforementioned points. “This needs to be anticipated by the public; perhaps they can reconsider or replan their holiday plans for Friday,” he explained. This decision was made after the President of the Labour Party, Said Iqbal, met with President Prabowo Subianto and discussed for 1.5 hours. Ultimately, KSPI decided to join the May Day celebration at Monas. This decision was taken because KSPI received assurances on 11 issues concerning workers directly receiving positive responses from Prabowo. “And from the 11 issues we raised, several received immediate responses and affirmations from the President,” said Said.
