The Special Committee (Pansus) on Parking Management of the DKI Jakarta DPRD carried out a surprise inspection (sidak) at the parking area in the Blok M Square district, South Jakarta, on Monday (11/5/2026). Nine entry points to the Blok M Square area have apparently been managed illegally all this time.

During the inspection, officials also sealed the Best Parking operator in the area. The Chairman of the Pansus on Parking Management of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, stated that the sealing was carried out because the operator is suspected of managing parking without a permit since 2023.

Not only that, there are suspicions of tax embezzlement that could eliminate the potential for regional original revenue (PAD) from the parking activities. “We urge all relevant parties, including supervisory agencies and law enforcement apparatus, to follow up on these findings seriously and transparently,” he said, as quoted by Republika in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

Based on information from the field, the potential parking revenue in the Blok M Square area is estimated to reach more than Rp 100 million per day. This shows that parking management in Jakarta still has many weaknesses, particularly in supervision, digital system integration, revenue transparency, and compliance with regulations.

Jupiter emphasised that his side has recommended that all parking operators without permits should no longer be granted operational permits by the Parking Management Unit (UP) or the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (PTSP). According to him, future parking management must be carried out directly by the UP Parkir with a cashless system that is integrated in real time and can be monitored directly.

“We do not want any more leaks or manipulations by certain individuals who collect fees from the public. Management must be carried out transparently, accountably, and modernly,” said Jupiter.
