Parigi, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The Parigi Moutong Regency government in Central Sulawesi is preparing more than 9 hectares of land for the construction of the Sekolah Rakyat (SR) building.

“The land is already available, located in Jono Kalora Village, Parigi Barat Subdistrict,” said the Secretary of the Social Service (Dinsos) of Parigi Moutong, Syafaat Pampi, in Parigi on Monday.

He explained that his side had met with the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) to discuss the follow-up on the construction of the SR.

The Parigi Moutong Regency government is striving for long-term investment through free, quality education for underprivileged families.

That national strategic programme is implemented through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 8 on Eradicating Extreme Poverty, and his side is endeavouring to participate in the programme.

“We want poor communities not only to advance in terms of economy but also to prosper in terms of education. Because education is one of the basic services that must be realised,” he stated.

The education scheme itself is designed as a joint school model with educational institutions with complete facilities including school buildings, student dormitories, library, laboratories (computer, biology, language), teachers’ room, and principal’s room.

“The supporting facilities also include School Health Unit (UKS), sports field, and canteen,” said Syafaat.

He added that the construction of the SR in Parigi Moutong is targeted for the third quarter of 2026. According to Kemensos data in the Central Sulawesi region, only four areas passed verification, namely Parigi Moutong Regency, Sigi Regency, Tojo Una-una Regency, and Buol Regency.

“Children of the poor must no longer be deprived of formal education. The SR is a solution provided by the government, and we ask the community to take advantage of the government programme,” he said.
