Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono has announced that the construction of a permanent People’s School in Parigi Moutong, Central Sulawesi, has entered the auction phase. This process follows the completion of all administrative requirements and land readiness.

“Alhamdulillah, based on the joint secretariat’s report, the proposal for the People’s School in Parigi Moutong has met the requirements. It is just a matter of waiting for the next process, namely the auction, after which the construction will be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works,” Agus said in a statement on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

He made the remarks during an audience with Parigi Moutong Regent Erwin Burase and Maybrat Regent Karel Murafer at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7). On this occasion, Agus Jabo expressed his appreciation to the Parigi Moutong Regency Government for its efforts and seriousness in completing the various construction requirements and supporting the People’s School programme.

He assessed that this programme is a direct idea of President Prabowo Subianto to provide access to quality education for children from underprivileged families and to break the chain of poverty. “I would like to thank Mr Erwin as the Regent of Parigi Moutong. He has fought extraordinarily hard and I give him the highest respect for tirelessly coming to the Ministry of Social Affairs to complete the documents for the construction of the People’s School,” he said.

This good news was positively received by Parigi Moutong Regent Erwin Burase. He also conveyed the latest developments regarding the proposal for the construction of a People’s School in his region.

Meanwhile, Maybrat Regent Karel Murafer submitted documents proposing the construction of a permanent People’s School to the Ministry of Social Affairs. Karel hopes the proposal can be followed up immediately so that children in Maybrat Regency can gain better access to education. “Today I officially submitted the People’s School documents for Maybrat Regency. Our hope is that the central government can see the needs of the community so that the People’s School can be built soon. Indonesian children are the future towards the Golden Generation 2045,” explained Karel.

Agus welcomed the step taken by the Maybrat Regency Government in submitting the proposal documents. He emphasised that the programme is intended so that children from underprivileged families still have the opportunity to obtain an education. “We as a state must pick them up, accompany them, and deliver them to achieve their goals. All Indonesian children must go to school, without discrimination. It is the state’s duty to educate the poor,” he concluded.
