Parents Verbally Abuse Suspects in Little Aresha Daycare Violence Case During Reconstruction

A number of parents were present during the reconstruction of the Little Aresha daycare child abuse case in Yogyakarta, appearing visibly emotional and shouting insults at the 13 suspects present at the scene.

At approximately 10:15 WIB, several parents who had been waiting since the morning attempted to approach the suspects as they arrived in a minibus. Some parents even attempted to pull the suspects from the vehicle. Police escorted the 13 suspects, all wearing orange detainee uniforms and handcuffed to one another, into the Little Aresha premises.

As the suspects entered the daycare area, the shouting from the parents intensified. One of the victims’ parents, Ismanto, expressed his frustration to the media on Tuesday (9/6), stating, “As parents, we are all naturally irritated. Our children were entrusted here with the hope they would be educated and cared for properly, but the reality of what we found was unacceptable behavior.” He added that the verbal outbursts were a response to the perceived lack of humanity shown by those who tied up the children.

The reconstruction process commenced at 10:35 WIB, beginning with one of the suspects simulating the pickup of a child in front of the daycare. The reconstruction was organised by the Yogyakarta City Police (Polresta Jogja) in collaboration with the Yogyakarta District Attorney’s Office and the Yogyakarta High Prosecutor’s Office.

Thirteen individuals have been officially named as suspects and are currently in custody. Yogyakarta Police Chief, Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, confirmed that all 13 suspects are female. The group includes the foundation’s chairperson, DK (51), the headteacher, AP (42), and eleven others serving as caregivers.
