Parents of pupils at SDN 1 Batuyang, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, have reported an alleged embezzlement of student savings to the police. Legal action was taken because the school has persistently failed to return the pupils’ savings. The report was filed by a parent representative, Yulianti, and is registered as complaint number P/II/VII/2026/NTB/Res Lotim/Polsek Pringgabaya, concerning the alleged criminal act of embezzlement. ‘We were only given promises. Previously they said today, but in reality we have received nothing. That is why we reported it to the police today,’ Yulianti said after filing the report at Pringgabaya Police Station on Saturday. Parents were disappointed after being promised the savings would be distributed in another three months. They consider this a breach of a previously agreed written agreement. The parents are urging the school to immediately disburse the funds. ‘We really need these savings. This is all we were hoping for to buy school uniforms, shoes, books, and other necessities, because the new school term is starting soon,’ said Sapardi. Previously, protests by parents of SDN 1 Batuyang pupils circulated on social media. The parents protested out of frustration because the student savings had not been disbursed by the school. The total amount of undisbursed student savings is estimated to reach Rp 200 million. It later emerged that the student savings were allegedly used for surgery costs by the school treasurer. ‘The explanation yesterday was that the school treasurer used it for a family member’s surgery,’ explained Nasir, Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the East Lombok Education and Culture Office, on Monday.
