A number of parents were seen visiting SMA Negeri 1 in Cirebon City. Several complaints were lodged. At the New Student Admission System (SPMB) service post at SMAN 1 Cirebon City today, Tuesday (9/6), it was seen crowded with parents of prospective new students who were visibly carrying supporting documents for their children’s registration at the school. “I came in person because my child’s name is not in the system. I wanted to ask directly here,” said a mother who declined to be named. There were also parents who complained about the server often experiencing disruptions and changes to student scores which became higher than before.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Cirebon City School Principals’ Working Consultation (MKKS), Maman Dermawan, explained that SMAN 1 is indeed the state school with the highest number of applicants compared to other state schools in Cirebon City. The high number of registrants means prospective students must compete fiercely to attend SMAN 1 Cirebon City. The current number of registrants has reached around 1,030 students. “Meanwhile, the quota is only 504 students,” said Maman. Furthermore, students who are not accepted will be channelled to their second and third choices.

Regarding the addition to student scoring, Anna, one of the SMAN 1 Cirebon City SPMB committee members, disclosed it was because the Academic Ability Test (TKA) scores that had not yet entered the database were finally integrated. “In the initial stage, the system only displayed report card grades without combining them with the TKA scores,” said Anna. After all the TKA scores were entered, the scores automatically increased and changed the scoring of the provisional PPDB standings. In fact, until now, Anna continued, there are still some TKA scores that have not been read by the system and to anticipate this, the school has carried out data collection by directly contacting the affected students.
