Parents of Prospective Students at Bali's 'Sekolah Rakyat' Moved to Tears, Expressing Gratitude to Prabowo
President Prabowo Subianto joined parents of prospective students at the Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Pertama (SRMP) 17 in Tabanan, Bali. During the visit, one parent was moved to tears while expressing her gratitude to the President in person.
Ida Ayu Putu Indra Suandewi, the mother of Ni Kadek Duwik Lestari, thanked Prabowo for initiating the Sekolah Rakyat programme, which has enabled her daughter to continue her education despite financial hardships. “Thank you, Mr Prabowo, my child can study here; I want to express my gratitude,” said Ayu Putu through tears at SRMP 17, Tabanan, on Sunday (7/6/2026).
Prabowo, seated in the front row, approached the pair to shake hands and offer comfort. He also took the opportunity to ask Kadek Duwik about her future aspirations, encouraging her to remain dedicated to her studies. When the student shared her dream of becoming a traditional dance teacher, the President responded, “That is wonderful.”
Similarly, another prospective student, Ni Kadek Aryani, expressed her thanks to the President. She shared that she had been unable to attend school for two years following her primary school graduation due to economic constraints. Her father, a farmer, earns no more than Rp 100,000 per day. Through the Sekolah Rakyat programme, she is now able to resume her education. “I have wanted to go to school for a long time; I finished primary school but could not attend for two years until an official visited to collect data. I really want to study. Thank you very much, Mr President,” she said.
