Parents of Little Aresha Daycare Victims Demand 17 Other Carers Be Named Suspects

Parents of victims in the alleged abuse case at the Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta are hoping that the other carers at the facility will soon be named as suspects. To date, police have only named 13 suspects in the case, including DK, the chairperson of the foundation. One parent, Ismanto, stated that there are 17 other carers who have not been named as suspects, noting they are currently only required to report to authorities twice a week. ‘We, as parents, certainly hope that the other 17, whose status is still mandatory reporting twice a week, can also be made suspects,’ Ismanto explained at the Little Aresha Daycare on Tuesday. ‘Because however you look at it, they were also executors in restraining our children during the time we entrusted our children to the Aresha Daycare,’ he continued. Despite this, Ismanto commended the police’s performance in handling the case, including the reconstruction process held today. He noted that the reconstruction serves as a form of proof for the victims’ families to demonstrate the treatment that occurred at the scene. Ismanto added that parents hope the suspects present can be punished with the heaviest possible sentence and that the families can obtain justice. Regarding the condition of the victims, Ismanto said they are currently still receiving psychological assistance provided by various parties. Today, the 13 suspects were presented at the daycare in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City, for the reconstruction, with parents in attendance to witness it. The suspects arrived in a Yogyakarta City Police minibus at around 10.15 WIB, wearing orange prison uniforms and handcuffed. The reconstruction began at 10.35 WIB, starting with a scene of a suspect picking up a child in front of the daycare. Police have confirmed that all 13 suspects, including the foundation chairperson DK and the head of the school AP, are women, with the other eleven serving as carers.
