Parents, detectives search for missing Briton

Associated Press, Denpasar, Bali

British police on Tuesday began retracing the last known steps of a British woman and her Peruvian boyfriend who disappeared two months ago from Indonesia's resort island of Bali.

The parents of Kate Osborne, 35, have also traveled to the island to try and find out what happened to their daughter.

Kate, from Carlisle, Cumbria, in northern England, was working as a translator for aid groups on the island. She has not been seen since April 18. Her Peruvian boyfriend Jose Henricci, who has been described as a professional surfer, also vanished at the same time.

Her car was found at Bali's international airport on April 21.

"She was a wonderful girl and that is why we are here," said Liz Osborne.

On Tuesday, two British detectives searched though Kate's old house alongside Balinese police looking for clues to her disappearance, Detective Chief Inspector Bill Whitehead said.

Kate's bank account had not been touched since her disappearance, she had not been in contact with her parents and took none of her personal belongings with her, Whitehead said.

"I have to say at this stage that there is nothing new at all," he said.

Her parents have created a Web site that they hope will help the search for their daughter.

Foreigners are occasionally reported missing in Indonesia, a sprawling archipelago of more than 13,000 islands.
