Parents and Schools to Monitor Free Nutritious Meal Programme via Digital Portal
Parents and schools will soon be able to monitor the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme through a digital portal being prepared by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Through the portal, parents and schools will be able to view daily menus, nutritional content, and information about the kitchens preparing the food. The portal is currently in the preparation stage and is targeted for launch within approximately one to two weeks, allowing schools and parents to monitor the implementation of the MBG programme.
Head of BGN, Sudaryono, stated that the portal is an effort to increase transparency in the programme’s implementation. He noted that schools and parents are the stakeholders most concerned with the quality of the nutritional services provided to children. "We are trying to prepare a portal where the MBG stakeholders who are most concerned, namely schools and parents, can check where their child goes to school, what menu the state provides, what the photo is, what the nutritional content is, what is served today, tomorrow, and yesterday," Sudaryono explained during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
In addition to daily menu information, the portal will also display the location of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG), the kitchen address, and the person in charge of the kitchen preparing the meals. This will allow parents to obtain more complete information about the MBG their children receive at school. "We are preparing this for transparency, including the address where the food is cooked at the SPPG, the address, and who the Head of SPPG is. So we want to inform the most concerned parties, in this case parents, about what kind of food service their children are receiving at school," Sudaryono said.
Sudaryono added that this transparency is expected to reduce misunderstandings or incorrect information regarding the implementation of the MBG programme. Parents can obtain information directly through the government-provided portal, without having to rely on information circulating on social media or other platforms. "This is to prevent different interpretations from arising, which might be uploaded on social media and become misleading," Sudaryono stated.
