Paraplegic travels the country

PADANG, West Sumatra: Thirty-year-old Ismail, a paraplegic who set off in 1988 to travel across the country on a specially- designed bicycle, has returned home.

Ismail said yesterday that he planned to continue his trip and arrive in his hometown of Langsa in Aceh within seven months, Antara reported.

On his trip he met President Soeharto, Vice President Try Sutrisno, Minister of Defense and Security Edi Sudrajat, and other cabinet ministers and governors.

Ismail said he also planned to write a book on his experience. (swe)
