A revenue collection officer (TPR) at Parangtritis Lama, Bantul, became the victim of a sickle attack by an unidentified motorcyclist while on night duty. As a result, the victim sustained a wound to his left thigh.

“A criminal act occurred at TPR Parangtritis between 9:30 PM WIB. The perpetrator’s characteristics include riding a black Honda Beat motorcycle and wearing a face mask. The victim is a TPR guard. Coming from the south, the perpetrator stopped at the TPR, swung a sickle, dropped the weapon, and fled,” according to information posted on the @merapi_uncover Instagram account, as reported by detikJogja on Monday (18/5/2026).

When asked for confirmation, the Head of Public Relations for the Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto, stated that the victim, identified by the initials MBA (38), is a resident of Parangtritis, Kretek, Bantul. At the time of the incident, around 9:00 PM WIB, the victim was performing his duties at the old Parangtritis TPR. It is noted that for night-time revenue collection, the Bantul Regency Government involves local residents.

“While the victim was working at the old Parangtritis TPR, the perpetrator suddenly approached from the south,” Rita told reporters on Monday (18/5/2026).

During the incident, the perpetrator suddenly shouted insults, brandished a sickle, and swung it towards the victim. The perpetrator also damaged a desk located within the TPR facility.

“The perpetrator slashed the victim with a sickle, hitting his left thigh,” she said.

Following the attack, the perpetrator fled the scene on a motorcycle, while the victim immediately reported the incident to the Kretek Police Station.

“As a result of the slash, the victim sustained a laceration on his left thigh,” she added.

The Chief of Kretek Police, AKP Joko Mulyono, added that police have visited the crime scene. Upon inspection, officers discovered a sickle with a detached handle near the location.

“The matter is being handled by the Kretek Police and is currently under investigation,” said Joko.
