Vendors at Parangtritis Beach have complained of low visitor numbers during the Eid al-Adha and public holiday period, noting that tourist footfall is similar to weekends. DetikJogja’s observations show empty tents lining the beach, with several vendors sitting idle as they await customers. Sri Payung, 50, a food and drink vendor at the beach, said the holiday situation was similar to weekends, adding that sales were even lower than usual today. “Today is not busy, similar to Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps because of Eid al-Adha, many are slaughtering sacrificial animals and choosing to stay home,” she told DetikJogja at Parangtritis Beach, Bantul, on Thursday, 28 May 2026. Sri, a resident of Mancingan, Kretek, Bantul, noted that tourist numbers today were higher than yesterday’s Wednesday figure. However, she added, “Compared to yesterday, it’s busier today but there are fewer customers. But it’s okay; fate is decided, we just have to deal with it.”

Erla, 43, a mat and tent rental provider, said her services were quiet, but tourist numbers were higher today than yesterday. “Today can be considered quiet, but we should be grateful,” she said. Erla, a resident of Mancingan, Kretek, Bantul, said the rental rate for mats and tents was Rp25,000, with no time limit on regular days. “During Eid or year-end holidays, I limit it to two hours for Rp25,000, but on regular days there’s no time limit,” she said.

TPR Parangtritis Coordinator Rokhmad Ridwanto said thousands had visited the beach since morning, according to data from TPR Parangtritis. “Since morning, 1,841 people have visited Parangtritis, and the number is likely to increase in the afternoon,” he said. Rokhmad noted today’s tourist numbers were similar to yesterday’s Wednesday figure and also to last year’s Eid al-Adha holiday. “Visitors to Parangtritis are still mostly from outside the Yogyakarta Special Region,” he said.

Markus Purnomo Adi, Head of Tourism and Creative Economy at Bantul Tourism Office (Dispar), said yesterday saw 2,188 visitors. He considered today the peak of Eid al-Adha tourism as Friday, 29 May, is not a public holiday. “Tomorrow’s visitor numbers will likely return to normal as people go back to work,” he said.
