Parahyangan train stoned
Parahyangan train stoned
From Pikiran Rakyat
On Dec. 2, 1996, I traveled on the Parahyangan train (no. KA
16F) to Bandung, which left Jatinegara station at 7:42 a.m..
The trip started pleasantly. However, the minute we left
Padalarang station, the windowpane on my left shattered,
producing a startling sound!
I suspected that the window was hit by a stone, the size of a
fist at least. I managed to catch a scurrying train employee as
he passed by, who said that a similar incident happened at the
same time up front. He also said the Parahyangan trains are
frequent targets of stone throwers in the vicinity of Padalarang.
I do not know what was behind the stone throwing. It could be
mischief, or social envy (train passengers are of the middle
income group and up). I am so grateful for God's protection
because, only a fraction before the incident, I had withdrawn my
face from the windowpane!
I am reminding the stone throwers: Your actions could be
dangerous to others. Village chiefs around the area of the train
rails should be keeping a watchful eye and look for these
delinquents.
I hope the incident will be a lesson and that it has attracted
the attention of respective authorities so that it will never
occur again.
