Para Games to open Sunday in Vietnam

HANOI: Vietnam will host the second ASEAN Para Games from Sunday,
eight days after the closing ceremony of the Southeast Asian
Games.

More than 700 athletes from the 10 ASEAN countries and East
Timor are expected to participate in the competition.

Medals will be distributed in athletics, swimming, table-
tennis, badminton and weight-lifting.

"The most difficult thing in organizing Para Games is our lack
of experience as we've never done it before," Dr. Hoang Vinh
Giang, General Secretary and Vice President of the Vietnam
Olympic Committee said.

The first Para Games, held after the 21st SEA Games in
Malaysia in 2001, had been contested by more than 400 athletes.
