A group of armed criminals (KKB) attacked workers from a road project operated by PT SHJ in Kanggime, Tolikara Regency, Papua Pegunungan, in the early hours of Monday, resulting in five fatalities. The incident occurred around 3.28 a.m. local time. Head of Information for Kodam XVII Cenderawasih, Colonel Inf. Tri Purwanto, confirmed the attack and stated that the evacuation process for the victims was underway. The identities of the victims have not yet been released. This incident adds to a series of separatist attacks in the region. Just days earlier, a joint task force from the TNI’s Habema Operations Command evacuated the body of Teina Alya, who was shot by an armed criminal group, from the bottom of a ravine near the Kolof River in Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency. The victim was believed to have been shot on Monday, 20 July, and was one of three victims in that incident.
