The Central Papua Provincial Health Office continues to enhance the competence of healthcare workers in Dogiyai Regency through activities focused on quality development and technical human resource competency.

Kristianus Tebai, Head of the Health Resources Division of the Central Papua Health Office, stated in Nabire on Thursday that this activity is part of the provincial government’s efforts to ensure that healthcare workers in the region possess adequate competence in accordance with national standards.

“Over two days, from 18-19 June 2026, Dogiyai healthcare workers were provided with technical guidance for clinical and technical competence, as well as the alignment of health service standards to match national benchmarks,” he said.

He explained that increasing the competence of healthcare workers is intended to support the equitable distribution of healthcare service quality across Central Papua as a new autonomous region (DOB).

Enhancing the capacity of healthcare personnel is a vital factor in achieving high-quality health services, especially in remote areas and regions still facing limitations in health resources.

Through synergy between the Central Papua Health Office and the Dogiyai Regency Health Office, it is hoped that the quality of health services in both primary healthcare facilities and hospitals can continue to improve.

“The hope is that the quality of health services at the frontline, such as community health centres (puskesmas) and hospitals in Dogiyai, can further increase so that the community receives more excellent, safe, and high-quality healthcare,” he added.

He noted that the programme is a concrete step by the local government in fulfilling the mandate of various national health regulations.

The development of health human resource quality refers to Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, which mandates that central and local governments guarantee the quality and sufficiency of healthcare worker competence on a continuous basis.

Furthermore, the activity supports the implementation of the fifth pillar of the Ministry of Health’s Health Transformation, which focuses on the transformation of health human resources through the coaching, supervision, and capacity building of healthcare workers in the regions.

He added that increasing the competence of healthcare workers is also part of the effort to meet the Minimum Service Standards (SPM) in the health sector, which requires quality healthcare for all citizens.

“The quality of health services can only be achieved if the competence of healthcare workers is continuously updated and improved periodically in accordance with scientific developments and community needs,” he said.

Through this activity, the Central Papua Provincial Government hopes that healthcare services in Dogiyai Regency will become increasingly high-quality and capable of optimally meeting the needs of the community.
